Video obtained by The Post shows the moments after an off-duty NYPD cop fatally shot an accused crook at a Brooklyn gas station earlier this week.
In the minute-long footage, suspect William Simon, 19, of East New York is seen lying on the ground unresponsive after he was shot in the torso Monday night by Officer David Sanon when the teen allegedly tried to hold up a Gasgo gas station in Canarsie with another man.
The man filming the video is heard praising New York cops as police officers respond to the scene.
“Yo, cops of New York are the best! Look at this. This is crazy,” the man can be heard saying.
“The cop got him. The cop got him,” the man says. “New York cops are the best.”
Sanon, who is assigned to the NYPD’s Intelligence Bureau, was seated in his personal car at the time as the station attendant was pumping gas into his vehicle when Simon and another man — who were both armed — approached, police said.
Authorities say one man entered the station attendant’s booth and demanded money from a worker while the other suspect stood outside and directed the cop and another attendant not to move.
Sanon identified himself as a cop and then gave the crooks verbal commands to stop.
The suspects turned around toward the officer with the guns in their hands and Sanon fired his gun, striking Simon in the torso, police said.
Simon was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His pal fled and is still at large.
