Young Boy Taken From Drug Addict Parents After Maggots Found In Ears

An eight-month-old has allegedly been the victim of shocking neglect from his drug-addicted teenage parents after being found covered in bite marks with maggots in his ear.

The West Australian parents are facing charges of knowingly and recklessly engaging in conduct that may have resulted in harm for treatment of the young boy in 2015, Perth Now reported.

The child, who was born prematurely, was also found by authorities with multiple broken bones including a fractured rib, arm, and leg.

An eight-month-old has allegedly been the victim of shocking neglect from his drug-addicted teenage parents after being found covered in bite marks with maggots in his ear

The eight-month-old’s case is currently the subject of a trial in Albany District Court after his injuries were discovered at his daycare center.

The child, from Denmark in the state’s far south-east, was born prematurely to a teenage mother.

The court heard family and friends noticed the child was unable to sit up unsupported and had become malnourished.

He was found with bite marks, bruises, broken bones, and maggots in his ear. There was also evidence of head trauma, which was described in court as ‘highly suspicious’.

The 18-year-old mother was ‘shocked’ hearing of the injuries when speaking to police and denied any acts of violence against the child.

The father also couldn’t explain the child’s injuries. They have not been charged with causing the injuries.

Prosecutor David Davidson said their drug addiction was evidence of a lack of care for the eight-month-old.

The trial continues.
